Hoffman’s book is divided into multiple parts, with four women recounting the lives that brought them for one reason or another to Masada. The cast for the TV program is a fine one: Cote de Pablo (“NCIS”), Rachel Brosnahan (“House of Cards,” “Manhattan”), Kathryn Prescott (“Finding Carter,” “Reign”) and the redoubtable Sam Neill as Flavius Josephus, the scholar who wrote the history of the Masada siege based on the testimony of the two women who, along with five children, survived.
